Name a number and test it with a call

A name like "Main line" or "Reminders" is easier to spot than a long number. A test call lets you hear your agent answer before customers do.

Find it: Sidebar → Phone numbers → click a number Who can use it: Owners and Admins

Name the line

The name is only a label for your team. It doesn't change the number or who answers it.

  1. Open the number. At the top, click its name. If it has none, it says Name this line. You'll see: a text box.
  2. Type a name (up to 80 characters), for example "Main line".
  3. Press Enter, or click anywhere else, to save. Press Escape to cancel. You'll see: a small spinner, then the new name in the panel and in the list.

Good names say what the line is for: "Main line", "Bookings", "Reminders – outbound", "Mumbai branch".

Test the line with a real call

The test call rings your mobile from this number. When you pick up, the number's agent talks to you, just like a customer would hear it.

  1. At the bottom of the panel, click Call my mobile to test. You'll see: a box called Your mobile number.
  2. Type your mobile number with the country code, for example +91 98765 43210. Click Call my mobile to test again, or press Enter. You'll see: the button changes to Calling….
  3. Answer your phone. You'll see: Connected · listening in the panel.
  4. Talk to the agent. Try a real question, like "Can I book an appointment for Saturday?"
  5. When you're done, end the call on your phone, then click Hang up in the panel. You'll see: "Call ended", and the button goes back to Call my mobile to test.

End the call on your phone

Hang up resets the panel. To be sure the call itself ends, hang up on your phone too.

What the test needs

NeedsWhy
The number's status is ActiveA number that is still setting up can't place calls.
The number has an answering agentThe test uses that agent. Otherwise you see "Assign an agent before testing this number."

A number gets an answering agent when you pick one while buying it, or when an agent's trigger names this exact number. An agent with an "Any connected number" trigger does not count. See Choose which agent answers a number.

Your number lines (WhatsApp-only) have no test call button, because they don't take calls in Voxido.

Test checklist

Use this short script on every new number:

  • [ ] The agent greets you with the right business name.
  • [ ] It answers one common question correctly (prices, timings, location).
  • [ ] It can do the main job (book, take a message, send a link).
  • [ ] It hands over or ends the call politely.

If something is wrong, fix the agent and test again. See Agent voice settings.

Refresh the channel status (Re-Sync)

Re-Sync sits at the top of the panel, next to the Voice, WhatsApp and SMS icons. Click it after you finish DLT registration for SMS, or after a WhatsApp change.

You'll see: "Status refreshed — Latest voice, SMS and WhatsApp readiness pulled in."

Common problems

"Assign an agent before testing this number." The number has no answering agent. Pick one with a trigger on the agent, then try again.

"We couldn't start the test call." Check your mobile number has the country code. If it still fails, wait a minute and try again.

My test call works, but a customer said nobody answered. Check the agent is still active and still owns this number. Also check you didn't add an "Any connected number" trigger to another agent, which can take over.
