How phone numbers work in Voxido
A phone number is the front door to your AI agent. Customers call it, or message it on WhatsApp, and your agent answers.

The idea in one minute
Think of a number like a shop's front door, and your AI agent like the person behind the counter.
- You get a number (the door).
- You choose which agent answers it (who stands behind the counter).
- A customer, say Priya Sharma, calls or sends a WhatsApp message.
- Voxido finds the number, finds its agent, and the agent picks up.
If no agent is chosen for a number, nobody picks up. Voxido never lets a random agent answer a number you haven't set up.

Most businesses do this: buy one Voxido number for calls, then connect WhatsApp on it. A clinic, a coaching centre or a salon can put that one number on its signboard, website and Google listing.
What kinds of Voxido numbers exist today

Which city? Pick the city your customers are in. A local area code (like 080 for Bangalore) looks familiar, so people are more likely to pick up and call back. A real estate office in Mumbai would pick Mumbai (022).
What a number costs
- Monthly rental. Charged when you buy, then every month on the same date. The buy window shows the exact price.
- Per-minute call charges. One rate for outgoing minutes and one for incoming minutes. Both are shown before you confirm.
- Paid from credits you add. Free trial credits can't be used to buy a number.

How a call finds its agent
When someone calls your number, Voxido checks, in this order:
- Is there an agent with a trigger for this exact number? That agent answers.
- Does the number have an answering agent that still exists? Then that agent answers. (An agent you built with an "any number" trigger can step in here instead.)
- Neither? The call is not answered.
An archived or deleted agent can't answer. If you archive the agent that owns a number, calls to that number aren't picked up. The full rules are in Choose which agent answers a number.

Quick start: Brightway's first number
Brightway is a small service business. It wants its AI agent to answer calls and book appointments.
- Brightway submits its Registration Certificate and GST Certificate on Compliance.
- After approval, it clicks Buy number, picks Bangalore (080), and assigns its agent "Front Desk".
- It names the line "Main line" and clicks Call my mobile to test.
- It connects WhatsApp on the same number, so customers can also message it.
Common problems
I bought a number but calls aren't answered. The number has no answering agent, or that agent was archived. Open the number in the list and check answered by. Then see Choose which agent answers a number.
I can't pick the United States or the UK. Only India is available today. The other countries show Coming soon.
Can I get a toll-free number? Not yet. Voxido offers local Indian numbers only.
